The Yamhill Community Library, is a project of the Gaston Community Library Association (GCLA), a 501©3 nonprofit (EIN: 93-1252959) since 1999, which is totally supported by volunteers, sponsors, and donations.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Library is established to provide free library services and quality materials which fulfill educational, cultural, and recreational need of the entire Yamhill area in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful, and businesslike.
INTRODUCTION
After some 40 years, Gaston Community Library (GCL) lost its home in 2023 when structural issues forced the closure of the Gaston City Hall. In 2024, the library found a home in the Education Building of the Yamhill United Methodist Church (YUMC), the host at 185 S. Laurel Street in Yamhill, Oregon. This location only holds a small portion of our books. So, GCLA is looking for a larger facility to hold all the books and items currently in storage.
The Education Building required many improvements to make an inviting and suitable place for library patrons.
The host has spent many hours and incurred considerable expense in preparing the space, along with church and library volunteers, to include painting and the upgrade of two bathrooms, one for ADA accommodation, installing carpet, and upgrading the lighting. Installing 15 shelves, a desk, and moving in approximately 3,000 books.
The library will be available to the public, church functions, and community meetings
